GEO Service Day - "Growing a Legacy"

“Growing a Legacy” celebrates the connection between generations of students, faculty, and place in the Department of Geography and Environment at UH Mānoa. At Harold L. Lyon Arboretum, geography comes alive through hands-on learning that prepares students to address real-world environmental challenges in Hawaiʻi and beyond. Through field-based education and interdisciplinary training in environmental science, human geography, and geospatial technology, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand the connections between people, place, and global change.

2025 Sustainability Teaching Award - Subhashni Raj, Urban & Regional Planning

Professor Subhashni Raj is recognized for her leadership in sustainability education at UH Mānoa. This video celebrates her teaching impact and commitment to community-centered environmental stewardship. This award honors those who embody the principles and practices of integrating social, economic, and environmental sustainability into university courses.

SCI-Human Connection

“The Human Connection: Communication Skills for Professional & Personal Success,” featured speakers from various industries including Jeff Hui, founder and CEO of Jumpstart AI, Lori Lum of Anthology Marketing Group FINN Partners, and Lisa Park, RN and current doctor of nursing practice student. All emphasized communication and collaboration as crucial skills employers seek in the workforce.

Ten rising UH Mānoa freshmen explored Japan this summer, gaining fresh perspectives on peace, culture and identity through an innovative College of Social Sciences’ program.
